Liberty Forge
Where Windows programs are hammered into

Showroom review for Oct. 3, 2004
"Yahoo! groups"
This site is an e-mail list maintained by
the author of Liberty BASIC.
Its original use when LB was first published, was to
distribute announcements, and the LB newsletter. It was
hosted by e-groups back then. This is a great resource,
as all the old messages are kept on the server, making it
possible to do a search. The search interface at this
site is rather awkward, in that it does not search the
entire database. Instead it searches a couple hundred or
so at a time, but you can continue your search by clicking
on the next link.
You have three choices for viewing the posts here and
two choices for posting. The first choice for viewing
posts is to recieve them via e-mail seperately. The next
choice is to recieve them as a digest, they are still
e-mailed to you but there will be 10 or so grouped into one
e-mail. The third choice is to view them on the groups
web page. As for posting, you can e-mail to the yahoo
group, or post at the group web page. All of the old
timers started out using this group. Many of them still
belong to this group. A large number of the LB user group
are now using the Liberty BASIC forum. Some like myself,
are members, both at yahoo groups and at the conforums.
Carl Gundel, the author of LB is a regular participant in
this group. You can't get service like that from M$.
I recommend this group for anyone who would prefer to
recieve messages by e-mail, in a newsgroup style
environment.
